Performing a scan

Scanning your computer for viruses and other threats is very easy with Titanium 2006. Simply, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Scan.

  2. The items that can be scanned by Titanium 2006 are displayed. Select the item you want to scan for viruses and other threats. The scan will start when you click on it. The following options are available:

IAnaliTo_shg.gif Scan all My Computer: If you click on this option, an immediate scan of ALL the elements in your computer will begin (this might take some time, as every file in each of the computer elements will be scanned): memory, removable drives connected to the computer (floppy disks, removable memory drives), hard disks, the D: CD-ROM drive, sent and received e-mail messages (both in Outlook Express and Outlook), etc.

IAnaliHD_shg.gif Scan all hard disks: On clicking this option, ALL the files stored in every hard disk installed, or existing, on the computer will be scanned.

IAnaliEm_shg.gif Scan all e-mail: On clicking this option, ALL the e-mail messages sent and received will be scanned.

IAnaliOt_shg.gif Scan other items...: Select the item you want to scan by clicking on the corresponding icon. If it is a folder (a directory) or file in particular, the user must indicate their location by clicking on the 'Folders' or 'Files' icon. Once this is done, a dialog box will be displayed allowing the users to select the item they wish to scan.

IVulnerabi_shg.gif Detect vulnerabilities: Checks, at any time, if there are vulnerabilities in the software installed on your computer and increases the general security level of your PC.

You can also scan specific files or folders from Windows Explorer. This kind of scan is called a pop-up scan. In order to carry out the scan, simply right-click on the item you want to scan (folder or file), and select Scan with Titanium 2006.

At the same time that the scan is taking place, data regarding the progress of the scan is shown to the user (scanned elements and progress bars). Additionally, users can pause the scan through the Pause button. In order to resume the scan, click on the Resume button. If you want to abort the scan, click Cancel.

Every time a scan is finished, a small summary will appear with the results of the operation. This summary includes the following information: Scanned, Infected, Disinfected and Renamed.

From this screen you can get more information about the scan carried out. If you want to view a detailed report, click on IInforme_shg.gif View detailed report. This report will show data regarding the events occurred, the Date and Time when they took place, the item or path scanned (Additional information) and the Result in each case (in the event of infection).

If you click on IEstadist_shg.gif View statistics, graphic information about all of the actions carried out by the program is displayed. You will have all the information you need at a glance. For more information about the reports, consult Titanium 2006 reports in this help.
